Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at which point he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role as the lead actor in The Killing as well as his appearance in two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series: Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also appeared in episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). He played the role of the Russian president in the American TV show House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award for 2018 for his part in the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is proficient in English, Swedish and German. He is also able to speak different accents. According to Mikkelsen's testimony the story, he and his brother were taught English through Monty Python records.
